BBB Johannes Deimling, born in 1969 in Andernach, Germany, is a visual artist working in the fields of performance art, video art, art film, drawing, and painting as well as art education.
Deimling has invested a large part of his artistic research in teaching and learning performance art processes since 1997. In 2008 he founded the international art and education project PAS | Performance Art Studies and has been the artistic director since then.
Since 2016 he has been married to the Polish photographer Monika Deimling, and both share a close artistic collaboration.
At the center of Deimling’s work is the creation of visual images that consciously elude direct logic and allow for metaphorical and poetic perception. The images are created by using an artistic freedom that opens up philosophical spaces between image and contemplation. Deimling’s universe of images aims to transform perception and integrates a wide range of present themes and topics.
