Arts + Design Initiative

The Arts + Design Initiative was created in 2015 and launched out of the Arts Research Center in 2016 under the leadership of then Arts Research Center Director and incoming Associate Vice Chancellor Shannon Jackson.

ARC shared co-leadership of A+D until it found it's home in 2017 in the Division of Undergraduate Education as a five-year initative to "feature, fortify, and mobilize existing excellence in the arts and design at UC Berkeley, while fostering dynamic collaboration, innovation, and public access across all arts and design fields, on campus and in public life." In 2022, A+D was granted an additional year to finish it's programming and sunsetted in 2023.
