The Loft Hour

Elevate your lunch break with The Loft Hour, a series that invites arts faculty to riff on their work over lunch, in an informal conversation moderated by an ARC-affiliated faculty member.

Join us in welcoming our esteemed colleagues in Art Practice, English/Creative Writing, Film & Media, History of Art, Music, and Theater, Dance, & Performance Studies. ARC developed The Loft Hour in 2023 to create cross-disciplinary conversations, across the arts and faculty rank levels, with the aim of creating a spotlight and fulcrum for new members of the Arts at Berkeley. Hosted by the Arts Research Center in our loft space, and supported by the Dean’s Office of the Division of Arts and Humanities.

Designed to reignite connections between colleagues and aligned with A&H Dean Sara Guyer's initatives to synergize, support, and help retain new faculty members.

In the two years since the program's inception, ARC has been delighted to host 30 faculty, including 20 featured artists from seven Arts departments, in conversation with 10 interlocutors affiliated with ARC.
