Lars Mørch Finborud was a Visiting Lecturer Panel Participant at the Nordic Time Zones Conference at the Arts Research Center on March 26, 2014.
Lars Mørch Finborud (1980, Oslo) is an art historian and worked as a curator at Henie-Onstad Art Centre from 2008-2018. Finborud runs the record labels Plastic Strip Press and O. Gudmundsen Minde, which specialize in releasing archive releases side by side with new recordings within the genres noise, jazz, electronic music, soul and hip-hip. He has published art history books about Arne Nordheim, Bauhaus, Christopher Nielsen, Jenny Hval, Marina Abramovic, Carsten Höller, Nils-Aslak Valkeapää and pop and performance art. He made his debut as a fiction writer with the novel De svarte skiltene (2013; in English as The Black Signs, 2015), followed up with the essay collection Å slipe ned gravsteiner (2014; in English as Sanding Down Gravestones, 2017) and the novel Ozenfant, Ozenfant (2017).
Finborud formerly worked as a radio host for the Norwegian state channel NRK P2 and has written extensively for magazines such as Morgenbladet and Vinduet. As a curator for Henie-Onstad Art Centre, Finborud has contributed to the re–positioning of the centre as an important venue for Norwegian experimental music, by activating it's archive and document collections from the 1960s and 1970s, for example by arranging Sunday concerts with it's material, and releases through Prisma Records. He is also a dedicated specialist and collector of library music. He lives in Oslo. (2021)
