Bio/CV: 

Peter Bittner is the founder of The Upgrade and is passionate about making a difference through emerging media & technology.

His photography and videography have been published on the front page of The New York Times and in CNN, Bloomberg, NBC, Reuters, Vox, Business Insider, Hearst Digital, Al Jazeera, Popular Mechanics, VICE News, and other major outlets. Peter is a Fulbright Scholar and has covered science, sports, travel, politics, and culture — and has a special knack for projects that get him outdoors and off the grid.

Peter produces content for commercial clients, including the United Nations, XPRIZE, and others. He also consults for international brands, focusing on next-gen content strategy and production. Peter’s recent consulting work has focused on incorporating AI tools into communications workflows and the relevant ethical, practical, and business considerations.

As an educator, Peter is a visiting lecturer of new media at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism and an instructor at the Advanced Media Institute. He was formerly a visiting instructor at CELSA-Paris Sorbonne. Additionally, Peter leads custom media workshops for individuals and organizations.

In his free time, Peter enjoys learning new languages, getting outdoors, and struggling to play the guitar.

Peter was an ARC Fellow in Spring 2017 – he was chosen in the Graduate Fellow category.
