Alex Harvey was an ARC Fellow in 2008-2009.

Alex Harvey is a director, writer, filmmaker, musician, teacher and producer based out of Brooklyn. Regional live theatre credits include O Lovely Glowworm (A.C.T.), Underneath the Lintel (The Alley), premieres of Will Eno’s Oh, The Humanity and Noah Haidle’s Mr. Marmalade (Stages Rep.), I Am My Own Wife (Stages Rep), and his own radical adaptation of The Mock-Tempest (Shakespeare Santa Cruz). In New York, he helmed the 5-person staging of Macbeth for Mirror Rep and co-directed Balm in Gilead with the acclaimed Lake Lucille company for whom he is also Associate Artistic Director. His production of Waiting for Waiting For Godot won the Overall Excellence award at the New York Fringe Festival in 2013 and he directed General Desdemona in Edinburgh, Scotland for the International Fringe Theatre Festival. He has developed work at NYTW, Steppenwolf, Lincoln Center and Long Wharf.  Alex also works for the Graduate Acting and Design programs at NYU Tisch as a director and adjunct to the MFA candidates. For NYU/MFA he wrote and directed The Humans Are in Trouble, Careless Marjory, his own two-room adaptation of Nabokov's Pale Fire and an adaptation of Peer Gynt with Keith Reddin called peer@me. He has taught as a guest lecturer in theatre and neuroscience at UCSD and UC Berkeley and is a member of Neurite – a program that pairs Columbia university neuroscientists and artists. In 2009 he adapted Michael Pollan’s Botany of Desire into an Opera as a part of the Berkeley Arts Research Center initiative.  Film/TV:  Alex co-directed the hybrid narrative/doc feature film of Lake Lucille's The Seagull which is currently in post-production. He was apprentice director under master director Allen Coulter on Boardwalk Empire's Fourth Season. He has helmed various music videos and shorts one of which, Sonnet23, screened in May 2015 at the Festival Cine Futuro in Salvador, Brazil. Alex is currently in pre-production for his cinematic adaptation of Walden.  An accomplished musician, Alex can be heard around NYC playing a variety of instruments with Michael Cerveris’ Loose Cattle, Chris Sullivan’s Sully and the Benevolent Folk, and his own dixieland band, 5000 Jazz Assassins. He can also be seen playing his mandolin nationally on Geico’s "Happier Than" campaign.
