Workshop is capped at 25 students.
We will take a waiting list in case of cancellations.

"In this generative workshop we’ll focus on love poems. We'll start by reading and discussing some vital examples that agitate the genre, then we'll move into writing new work."
Margaret Ross is the author of A Timeshare (Omnidawn, 2015) and Saturday (The Song Cave, 2024). Her work has appeared in Granta, Harper’s, The Paris Review, and POETRY and has been supported by a Harper-Schmidt Fellowship, a Stegner Fellowship, and a VSC/Luce Foundation Chinese Poetry & Translation Fellowship. She is the 2026 Holloway Lecturer in the Practice of Poetry at UC Berkeley. A few of Ross's poems and reviews below, and read more at her website here.
SATURDAY, BY MARGARET ROSS (The Song Cave, 2024, more info here)
"Can you imagine being seen in the way that Margaret Ross sees people and things?—that is, in the moments just before and immediately after everyone else sees you, if they do, including you? It would be terrifying, denuding, and yet it would be exhilarating, metamorphosizing. Because her attention reveals life’s true, unconscious composition, including its perpetual search of how to compose itself. Saturday is this, is witness to the interstitial, is slapstick melancholy, is the meticulous revision of the unrevisable rough draft of living, is 'trying to get down under the immortal dailiness / and touch the myth beneath the fiction."
