Arts Research Center (ARC)
ARC annually awards curriculum development grants to Berkeley faculty and
graduate student instructors to develop innovative courses that integrate the arts.
See the ARC Curriculum Development webpage or contact Associate Director
Michele Rabkin at micheler@berkeley.edu or (510) 642-4268 for more information.
Pacific Film Archive Subvention Fund Program
UC Berkeley instructors can apply for free tickets to bring their students to screenings
and events at the Pacific Film Archive that are related to the courses they are teaching.
PFA curators are happy to provide advance information about scheduled screenings
or to discuss future programming possibilities. In order to qualify for the student subvention,
attendance at the screening(s) must be a required (not merely recommended) part of
the course. Subvention funding is limited; interested instructors should contact PFA
Theater Manager Becky Mertens at bmertens@berkeley.edu or 643-2197 as far in
advance as possible to determine if funding is available. Once a subvention request is
approved by the PFA curatorial department, the box office staff will request an official
course roster, listed alphabetically, and students will be able to pick up their free tickets
at the theater by showing their student identification.
